The continuing story of The Sweet Feeling.

Due to internal differences between certain members of the Sweet Feeling it is my sad duty to try to set the record straight regarding the information being aired by Daniel De La Blancherie on the internet.  Please go to his web site at www.sweetfeeling.be for a history of the group during the 1960’s but I would like to point out that the group “The Sweet Feeling” is not finished as he is suggesting on this website & on Youtube, it his only his participation in the band that has finished.  I have continued to write new material since his departure & currently record & work with the other two original members of the Sweet Feeling John & Jacky on new projects.  So you can believe me when I say, The Sweet Feeling continues to exist without him.

  Soon we hope to up-date this site, which was (until Dany aquired his Sweet Feeling.be site) the official Sweet Feeling site & it will remain online to give you all the latest news on the band. Please feel free email us on thesweetfeeling@gmail.com.

I would now like to wish Dany success with any project he may undertake in the future, be it not as a member of the Sweet Feeling.  I understand that he has formed a new band called “Not Dead Yet” and add, that I personally bare him no ill-will, although it was his un-willingness to listen to the other members of Sweet Feeling that now puts Jacky, John and myself in this situation.  I will leave it to "you" who read this to judge for yourselves who "you" wish to believe.

Our problems started in 2009 when Dany decided to arranged a "Come back Concert" for the 30th January 2010 and asked each member individually by email if they were in agreement, John & myself initially agreed only to find out that Jacky could not agree as he felt he was not able to play what would be a very ambitious and demanding show due to on-going medical and personal reasons.  When John and I were made aware of this we both informed Dany that we would not be happy to continue with the concert as we felt that it would not be right or fair to play as  “The Sweet Feeling” without Jacky as the drummer.  When John & I met with Dany to discuss what could be done to sort this out, we asked him if it was possible to delay the concert or possibly continue with his plans but replace the Sweet Feeling at the venue with another group. He would not listen to any of our suggestion & immediately began a personal "vendetta" against Jacky asking that we replace Jacky with a new drummer so that the concert could go ahead. John and I were not in agreement to this.

We then asked Dany to attend a meeting of all the members of the Sweet Feeling including our old road manager Phil who was making a special trip from his home in Paris to try to help resolve matters within the group, Dany refused, saying he had made his decision did not want to talk about it & the show would go ahead with or without the members of the Sweet Feeling. May I add at this point, that the date & location of the concert had not been advertised, so it would have been easy for Dany to change arrangements. John & I felt we had offered many valid suggestions that would enable him to fulfil his obligation to the management of the venue & everybody concerned would be happy but Dany was adamant that the concert should continue.  I even suggested that I would gladly perform two or three songs of the Sweet Feeling as a guest artist with any other group who would replace the Sweet Feeling at the 30th January concert.  Dany refused my offer. 

To try to help appease Dany even more & help the worsening situation in the group, I agreed to rehearse with Dany & two other musicians on what I believed to be a project of his not connected to the Sweet Feeling.  After this rehearsal I was once again asked by Dany, in front of the two other musicians, to play at the January concert, and he said that it was now his intention to stage the show as a "Sweet Feeling farewell concert" to finish the Sweet Feeling for all time.  I once again tried to explain to him why I did not want to participate and that he was only 1/4 of the Sweet Feeling & that he did not have the right to decide the fate of other members of The Sweet Feeling on his own.  I again asked for time to talk to the other's but he insisted that he was finished with talking and was going to publish that the Sweet Feeling was now finished on the official sweetfeeling.eu web site which he compiled but legally belonged to me.  I spoke at length with Jacky & John and it was decided that I block his ability to edit the content on the site until we had decided what we wanted published NOT JUST WHAT DANY WANTED TO WRITE.  In finishing I would like to add that, I returned to Belgium after 40 years in the UK to continue working with friends as a member of the Sweet Feeling.  For me it was the beginning of a new chapter in my life, & a new chapter in the continuing story of the Sweet Feeling.  I tried to talk sensibly to Dany but he would not listen.

I will not allow the Sweet Feeling end because of Dany De La Blancherie.  He wanted to destroy the band because of selfish reasons & I will not allow this to happen.  I would still love to think that it was possible for the original members to work together as friends but Dany has now made it perfectly clear he is only interested in destroying the Sweet Feeling.  I repeat, I will not let this happen.  I will move on & I will continue to work with the help of Jacky & John to produce Sweet Feeling music.
